Argumentative Essay

Greed

During these recent years we can see how people have become more and more greedy. Greed is a serious problem that not only affects the person who possesses the trait, but also those who surround the person. Greed is a social problem that will destroy our economy and our country in little time. The craving to acquire or possess more than what a person needs can affect your family, your job and your life. Greed can affect the relationship between a couple and get to the point in which one of the partners may decide to quit on the relationship.

Greed can affect a family in many ways such as losing a member of the family. When someone in the family gives more importance to material things they may want a more sophisticated or luxurious life and will eventually leave the family to find another partner of the family that can provide more. Another way that greed can affect your family is when members of the family lose their job and they struggle to pay mortgage payments. News articles have explained how such member can be scammed of their money by people from the own bank when they claim you need to pay a certain amount of money which is more than the actual bill. This problem can drive families to serious poverty issues, and not only this, greed can affect your job.

A person who is greedy does not necessarily want money; they can also want and take material things all for themselves. Being greedy can affect your job because the greedy worker can end up getting fired. Greedy people tend to take things without permission and if they take something, they take all of it, that way no one else has a chance to take something also. Good examples of greedy people are the governors that have used their power as leaders and they have taken money from the country for their own use. The governors that were caught stealing money ended up having a great debt and even had to serve time in jail. This brings us to the point that greed can affect overall your life.

It is not certain of how far a person will go because of their greed. A good example of this is the robbers. Everyday throughout the news we can see various incidents that occur in which people even risk their life just to get what they want. Greed has driven people to do things that they do not necessarily want to do but greed blinds them and makes them do these things. An example is drug dealing just to get more money. Greed has become the basis of bigger problems that can lead to death.

Even though greed affects our family, our jobs and our life, there is a solution. The only way that greed can be minimized is by teaching the youth that the only way of obtaining what they want is by working hard, but not any job, honest jobs. If all parents complete this task then the world will not have this problem as serious as it currently is.
