Abstract:
Greed is a serious problem known to affect society in many ways. The purpose of this study is to view and explore the relation between greed and the economy. With the pupose of finding out if greed had an effect in the economy we decided to interview three individuals who had to answer six questions. By the end of the study and after analizing the information it was concluded that greed has a negative effect on the economy. As the interviewees stated, greed could ruin peoples lives.
Introduction:
The problem of the study was, Does greed have an effect on the economy? The purpose of the study was to find out what people thought towards someone being greedy and the effect it has in society. Just as greed can be the desire for money or material things, the economy is based on the movement of this money and the trade of material things between countries.
"Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction." -Fromm, E.
Methodology:
For the realization of the study questions for the interview had to be created, so there was a lot of thought put into the confection of these.
Questions:
1) Define the word greed.
2) Can you think of more than one synonym for greed?
3) Has greed or any of it's synonyms affected your life and how?
4) Can you give an example of greed in society?
5) Do you believe greed, or any of it's synonyms have an effect on the economy? Yes or no?
6) Is the effect positive or negative? Explain.
After having the questions ready I decided to look for three candidates from the different generations who did not mind being interviewed. I got a voice recorder and I set up a date with two of the candidates so they could be interviewed. After interviewing two of the candidates I analyzed their answers and came to a conclusion.
Discussion of results:
The interviewees defined greed as a thought or a feeling of desire of something no matter the cause or effect that obssesive desire may have on others. Some of the synonyms the individuals thought of were ambition, selfishness, envy, avarice and desire. The individuals stated that greed has influenced their lives in many ways such as how the government runs our country or even between people they have related with who have valued material things more than friendship. An example of greed in society that were stated were an ocurrence of an old lady who bought five tv's on black friday and she was greedy because she didn't think of the other people who wanted to buy a tv also. Both interviewees stated that greed has a negative effect on economy since economy runs on the management of material things and money and in this case the excesive desire for these can cause problems between the society and the people who are greedy.
Conclusion:
After finishing the study I concluded that greed has a negative effect in the economy and for this reason we should take action into solving the problem of greed in our society.
Recomendations:
For future investigations I recommend to use a more amplified sample of interviewees as far as from the Silent generation to the Millenials.

something that pushes people to success, in fact, the view it as something
headed for chaos. Greed is a serious issue that needs to be dealt with as soon
as possible so that in the future we can have a better way of running our
country not worrying about our leaders taking the job for the money.
Our company, Money Isn’t Happiness

have. We pretend to provide conferences for the public in which we can have a
personal interaction with them and listen to their thoughts on the concept and
at the same time they learn how to confront greed and how to help greedy
people.
